NANAIMO — Nanaimo Fire Rescue (NFR) crews were called to a small fire in a home in the Brechin Hill neighbourhood and called back to the same address early the next morning.

The first fire at the home on Juniper St. near Discovery Ave. was reportedly located in a bathroom ceiling fan, leading to visible damage to parts of the roof.

NFR assistant fire chief Stuart Kenning confirmed they were first called to the home on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and returned several hours later just before 3:00 a.m.

Both times smoke was seen coming from the roof of the home with a burnt-out hole visible on the structure on Thursday.
