‘Sunset Cinema’ series returns to Nanaimo & Parksville

NANAIMO — The weather will be ideal, so bring your chairs and a blanket to enjoy a night out in the park.

Coastal Community is hosting their annual Sunset Cinema series supporting the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.

The events include a giant inflatable screen set up in various parks across Vancouver Island and showcasing a popular family flick. Screenings start when it’s dark and are free to attend.

Nanaimo’s event will screen Minions: The Rise of Gru on Friday, July 14 at Maffeo Sutton Park while Parksville’s Community Park will host The Super Mario Bros Movie on Sunday, July 16,

Concessions will also be set up on site with snacks and popcorn available.

Coastal Community returned to the event in 2022 after transitioning to a drive-in-movie-style screening through the pandemic.

Other events are due in Duncan on Thursday, July 13, Port Alberni on Saturday, July 15, Courtenay on Monday, July 17 and Campbell River on Tuesday, July 18.
