Canadian women drop one place to No. 7 in latest FIFA world rankings
The Canadian women have dropped one place to No. 7 in the latest FIFA world rankings, overtaken by Spain in the lead-up to next month’s Women’s World Cup.
Canada played just one match, losing 2-1 to France, since the last rankings in late March.
The top five remains the same with the U.S. topping the list, ahead of Germany, Sweden, England and France. After Spain and Canada, Brazil is No. 8 while the Netherlands fall one spot to No. 9.
Australia, one of Canada’s Group B opponents at the World Cup. remains No. 10. Ireland and Nigeria are Canada’s other first-round foes with the Irish unchanged at No. 22 and the African side up two spots to No. 40.
