Hamilton Tiger-Cats quietly busy on opening day of CFL free agency
HAMILTON — It was a somewhat quiet first day of free agency for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but still a productive one.
The Ticats signed American defensive back Javien Elliott to a two-year deal Tuesday, the opening day of CFL free agency. Elliott, 29, spent the last two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, registering 12 tackles in five games played.
But CFL sources requesting anonymity said the Ticats also had deals in place with linebacker Jameer Thurman, defensive linemen Casey Sayles and Kwaku Boateng, running back James Butler and receiver Duke Williams that weren’t announced Tuesday.
Boateng is a Canadian while the other four are Americans.
