NANAIMO — The Clippers picked up a third consecutive win with a 3-2 decision over the Langley Rivermen.

Brett Merner on a power play and Charles Tardif converting a rebound scored first period goals for Nanaimo.

Ben Brant’s first goal as a Clipper staked the team to a 3-0 lead early in the middle frame.

A marker late in the second by Owen Kim and another in the third from Andrej Kovacevic set up an exciting finish but Nanaimo held on for the victory.

Aidan Campbell was strong in net with 42 saves while Langley’s Taje Gill stopped 30 shots.

Nanaimo was efficient on special teams going 1/2 on the man advantage and 5/5 killing penalties.

The Clippers have won all three games in their season series with the Rivermen, all by one goal.

Heading to the BCHL All Star break Nanaimo has an eight point lead atop the Coastal Division standings.

Coach Colin Birkas, leading scorer Kai Daniells and top defenseman Ethan Mistry will be a part of the All Star weekend Jan. 20-22 in Penticton.

The team will resume the BCHL schedule with home games against Powell River on Jan. 27 and 28.
