Dec 2, 2022 | 9:57 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers are getting used to thriving in defensive, low scoring games.

Nanaimo won 3-1 over the Chiefs in a game that was scoreless well into the second period.

There was a Clippers disallowed goal in the opening frame by Tyler Wishart but the first goal that counted came from Skyler Cameron with six minutes left in the second.

Kai Daniells added another goal a few minutes later to extend Nanaimo’s advantage.

Even though a Dalton MacGillivray tally in the third period made it a close game the Clippers were very composed and sealed the game with a Mike Murtagh empty netter.

Aidan Campbell was strong in net making 23 saves while Nanaimo got 32 shots on Chilliwack’s Lucas Szyszka.

The Clippers had four power plays and had to kill off a pair of Chilliwack man advantages.

One of those power plays was on a blow to the head call on Rylan Yates had left the game in the second period and didn’t return.

Chiefs defender Lucas Sorace was given a five minute call for a blow to the head and a game misconduct.

The Dec. 2 three stars were: 1) Kai Daniells 2) Aidan Campbell 3) Skyler Cameron

Nanaimo’s next action is Saturday Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. when the Clippers host the Merritt Centennials for Alumni Night.
