Near record prize money on offer for Friday Lotto Max draw

NANAIMO — Weeks without a winner is giving people across the country fresh doses of lotto fever.

The Lotto Max draw for Friday, Oct. 14 will again cap at the maximum jackpot of $70 million with an estimated 60 $1 million additional prizes offered.

The total estimated prize pool of $130 million up for grabs Friday night will sit just below the record of $140 million set in June 2021, a stretch finally broken by a fair of main jackpot winners and 46 people claiming the additional prizes.

One ticket purchased in Nanaimo won $500,000 during the record run last year.

Maria Edmonds claimed $500,000 on the June 15, 2021 draw and said at the time they planned to use the money to make retirement a little more comfortable.

Edmonds is one of roughly two dozen local winners to claim $500,000 or more over the last 10 years.

To win the main jackpot of $70 million on Friday night, players must match all seven numbers which carries odds of one in 33,294,800.

According to PlayNow.com, the most common seven numbers drawn are 9,14, 19, 36, 38, 39 and 46.
