Nanaimo nurse suspended after sharing misinformation regarding COVID-19 vaccine

NANAIMO — A local nurse will serve a one-week suspension from their job after an investigation from the B.C. College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).

In a consent agreement approved on Sunday, Sep. 4, the College noted Jeremiah Isaksen had voluntarily agreed to the suspension after a review of his actions while employed as a community health nurse with seniors in Nanaimo.

The BCCNM’s investigation looked at issues in Isaksen’s conduct between 2021 and March 2022

“(Isaksen) requested that a coworker create false vaccination records for him and said/shared on social media that the COVID-19 vaccine was unnecessary, unsafe, and possibly lethal,” the public notice on the College’s website read.

It was also confirmed Isaksen supplied a senior in care with “edible cannabis products” which were not part of their regular healthcare plan.

Isaksen has also agreed to review policies around informed consent and complete an ethics course as part of his suspension.

He will also be required to review the courses and policies with a BCCNM consultant.

It is not clear which facility or facilities Isaksen works at.
