NANAIMO — Pride and potential roster spots are on the line Sunday.

The Nanaimo Clippers wrap the 2022 Main Camp with the annual Rhodsie Cup, pitting the top 40 players against each other in an exhibition game with a competitive edge.

The Nanaimo Ice Centre will host the game, which is open to the public and starts at 6 p.m.

Admission is by donation to KidSport Nanaimo.

The arena has also seen ice sessions Friday, Sep. 2 and Saturday, Sep. 3 for the team which is looking to take one more step forward after losing in the Fred Page Cup finals last season to Penticton.

It’s also the first training camp under the Clippers’ new owner, Brad Kwong, who assumed control of the team in June.

The Rhodsie Cup is in honour of former Nanaimo sports reporter Michael Rhode, who passed away in 2010 and was a long time friend and fan of the Clippers franchise.
