Nanaimo man wins big with $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize

NANAIMO — How sweet it is.

Traveling is on the mind of a Nanaimo man who secured a cool $1 million lottery prize.

James Honeyman won the substantial prize in the July 23 Lotto 6/49 draw. He told the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) he learned he was a big winner while at home on his sundeck.

“I checked the Lotto app at home the Sunday morning after the draw and saw the $1,000,000 prize pop up, which was unbelievable.”

Honeyman’s wife didn’t believe her husband when he first told her the news. The couple now plan to follow through on trips they’ve long pondered.

Honeyman told the BCLC winning the lottery is “life-changing”, enabling he and his wife to enjoy their retirement.

Another yet to be identified lotto player won $1 million after purchasing a Lotto Max MaxMillion ticket in Nanaimo ahead of the Tuesday, Aug. 2 draw.
