NANAIMO — No-one was injured after an SUV drove through the front windows of a pet store.

Fire Rescue crews were called to the Bosley’s on Bowen Rd., near East Wellington Rd. just after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 after a grey SUV parked in front hopped the curb and smashed into the storefront.

Jennifer Tokarek was inside the store at the time of the incident, she told NanaimoNewsNOW the noise was very loud.

“It sounded like the roof fell in, it was so loud then we all realized it was a car that came straight in.”

Everyone inside the store was fine, along with a dog which was also inside.

Another employee, Marissa Tauscher, said she is frequently in the area the vehicle came into.

“Two minutes before…I was right where the car came in.”

The driver of the vehicle, an older woman, said on scene she heard a honk behind her and then accidentally stepped on the accelerator as opposed to the brake.
