NANAIMO — Sean Donaldson had two goals and was the OT hero for the Clippers in a 5-4 win in Langley.

Charles Tardif opened the scoring for Nanaimo but the lead lasted for only 56 seconds thanks to the Rivermen’s first goal of the series by Vitaly Levyy.

Levyy’s marker ended Cooper Black’s shutout streak at 245:44, seven minutes shy of a BCHL record.

Langley was up 3-1 in the second period until the Clippers had a clutch final minute on the power play.

Kai Daniells and Brody Waters scored man advantage goals 23 seconds apart to lock the game at 3-3 heading into the third.

Donaldson put Nanaimo up 4-3 but the lead would only last two and a half minutes.

The game went to OT and the Clippers had to kill off an early penalty, but then Donaldson converted a Tristan Fraser pass halfway through the extra session to give Nanaimo the 3-0 series lead.

The shots were 47-42 for Langley with both teams very effective on special teams.

Nanaimo finished 2/3 on the power play and the Rivermen were 2/4.

The Clippers are 11-0 in the playoffs with a chance to advance to the Fred Page Cup with a win in Game 4 on May 4.

Penticton also has a 3-0 lead on West Kelowna in the only other BCHL playoff series.
