Cooper Black raises shutout streak to 231:46 in Game 2 win over Langley

NANAIMO — Clippers goalie Cooper black has three straight shutouts and his team has a 2-0 series lead in the Coastal Division final.

Black made 26 saves and Nanaimo got a pair of goals from Jake Hewitt and another from Sean Donaldson to win 3-0 on April 30.

Nanaimo’s netminder also blanked the Rivermen with 36 saves in Game 1 and put up a goose egg against Chilliwack in Game 4 of the second round with 37 stops.

Black leads the BCHL in every major post season goaltending category.

In Game 2 Nanaimo outshot Langley 33-26 and neither team cashed in on the power play.

The Clippers went 0/3 including a full two minute five on three, while the Rivermen finished 0/2.

The Clippers scored one goal in each period en route to their tenth consecutive playoff victory.

The series will take a two day break before shifting to the George Preston Recreation Centre for games on May 3 and May 4.

In the Interior Division final Penticton also has a 2-0 series lead on West Kelowna after outscoring the Warriors 14-1 in the opening games.
