NANAIMO — Keighan Gerrie’s two goals led the offense and Jed Baliotti’s 51 saves sparked the defence in the Clippers 4-3 road win over the Grizzlies.

Nanaimo built up a 3-0 lead in the first 23 minutes of the game on goals by Gerrie, Tristan Fraser and Max Itagaki.

Victoria chipped away with two goals from Andrew Amousse and another by Nathan King to tie the game with three minutes remaining in regulation time.

Gerrie notched his second of the contest to give Nanaimo the win with 1:25 left on the clock.

Jed Baliotti was named the first star with 51 saves on 54 shots as the Clippers were outshot 54-30 in the game.

Power plays were a major factor with the Grizzlies having seven to Nanaimo’s three and the Clippers being down five on three twice in the game.

The only man advantage goal the Clippers gave up was with Alek Sukunda serving a five minute major for cross checking and Andrew Noel also off for a hooking minor.

With the victory Nanaimo’s record is 2-1 against the Grizzlies and their BCHL total is 21-11-1.

The Clippers have earned seven of the last eight possible points with three wins and an overtime loss.

Nanaimo will host Powell River for Alumni Night on Jan. 28 and then entertain the Surrey Eagles on Jan. 29.
