NANAIMO — Two people remain in hospital with serious injuries following an attack in their home.

RCMP and other first responders were called to a residence near the corner of Cadogan St. and Northumberland Ave. around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The victims, both in their 60’s, called 911 to report the attack.

“Investigators are confident there are no other suspects involved and that this was an isolated incident not connected to the recent gun violence that has occurred in Nanaimo,” Cst. Gary O’Brien said in a release.

A 20 year-old suspect was later found at a residence on Boundary Cres. and arrested without incident.

The day following the attack the alleged assailant, Anthony Rouskov Nielsen of Nanaimo, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Nielsen remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Dec 22.

Mounties secured the home overnight and it is being examined by the Nanaimo RCMP Forensics Unit.

The investigation is continuing anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP.
