Regina’s Kali Christ wins gold for Canada at Four Continents speedskating event
CALGARY — Regina’s Kali Christ brought home gold in the women’s 1,500 metres on Thursday, the second day of the Four Continents speedskating championship.
Christ finished in one minute 57.679 seconds to earn the top spot on the podium, ahead of American skaters Sarah Warren (2:00.415) and Jamie Jurak (2:01.897).
It was the 30-year old’s second medal of the competition, having also captured bronze in Wednesday’s Team Sprint event alongside teammates Carolina Hiller and Lindsey Kent.
Calgary’s Ted-Jan Bloemen finished second in the men’s 1,500 metres on Thursday, one day after winning gold in the 5,000 metres.
