Dec 10, 2021 | 10:44 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers snapped a two game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Express.

The two teams scored six seconds apart in the first period with Arlo Merritt and Nanaimo’s Sean Donaldson exchanging goals with the game four on four.

Cooper Black and Coquitlam’s Connor Mackenzie were perfect in the second period and nearly unbeatable the rest of the night.

Max Itagaki put the Clippers in front 2-1 on a third period five on three and Christan MacDougall knotted the game on a strange bounce on an Express man advantage.

That set the stage for overtime with Cooper Black stopping a two man breakaway and a penalty shot.

In the shootout Itagaki and Jake Hewitt scored for Nanaimo while only Carter Cochrane could beat Black for Coquitlam.

The shots finished 33-31 for the Clippers with Nanaimo going 1/5 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill.

The Dec. 10 three stars were 1) Max Itagaki 2) Jake Hewitt 3) Cooper Black

Nanaimo has a 2-0 record versus the Express this year with both games going beyond 60 minutes.

On Dec. 11 the Clippers will travel to Powell River for a 5 p.m. faceoff in a make up game against the Kings.
