Quebec Liberal Party redefining itself, will focus on environment in October election

QUEBEC — The Quebec Liberal Party says it will be focusing on the environment as it seeks to redefine itself less than a year before the next provincial election.

Dominique Anglade, the leader of the province’s official Opposition, told Liberals at a convention in Quebec City today that environmental issues must be the ballot question when Quebecers go to the polls in October 2022. 

Anglade says fighting climate change by developing government-owned green hydrogen production capacity should not only be a central plank of the Liberal platform but a key element of the next election campaign. 

Anglade says green hydrogen, which would use reusable energy to extract hydrogen from water, could be used to replace fossil fuels used in trains, planes and boats. 

Anglade, who has led the Liberals for 18 months, says the party is in a process of redefining itself under her leadership.
