Clippers win clash of power plays 7-4 over Powell River

NANAIMO — The Clippers and Kings each had three power play markers in a 7-4 Nanaimo victory at Hap Parker Arena.

Nanaimo never trailed leading 3-1 after one period and 4-3 heading into the third.

Charles Tardif, Sean Donaldson and Austin Spiridakis taliied on the power play for the Clippers who finished 3/6 on the man advantage.

Nanaimo’s usually stingy penalty kill went 4/7 although Kai Daniells did get credit for a short handed empty net goal.

Donaldson had another goal at even strength and Brody Waters also scored five on five.

Jed Baliotti got his first win in his first start in goal on a night Nanaimo outshot Powell River 46-28.

The duo of Donaldson and Max Itagaki combined for seven points in the contest.

Donaldson had two goals and two assists and Itagaki notched three assists. They were named the first and second star with the Kings Max Potvin earning third star honours with two assists.

The Clippers have won six straight games against Powell River this season with four consecutive victories overall.

At 13-6 Nanaimo sits second in the Coastal Division standings.

December begins with a four game home stand starting with a visit from the Cowichan Valley Capitals Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
