COVID outbreak doubles at NRGH, additional case detected at Nanaimo care home
NANAIMO — Several more people have tested positive for COVID-19 as part of an ever-growing outbreak at Nanaimo Hospital.
Island Health revealed eight new cases in the hospital’s Transitional Care Unit since its last update on Friday, Nov 5.
In total, 13 patients and two staff members tested positive for the virus since an outbreak was declared on on Nov 2. It’s the largest outbreak at NRGH throughout the pandemic and the second in the care unit.
The outbreak has so far not spread to to other areas of the hospital, while the health authority asks people to seek emergency care at NRGH if required.
