NANAIMO — School District 68 is dealing with a COVID-19 cluster at a local school.

An evening tweet from SD68 reported an additional COVID-19 exposure event, with a potential exposure date of May 21.

This latest case added to previous cases linked to the school community with potential exposure dates of May 17 to 19.

With the new cases, Island Health has upgraded the situation at Cedar elementary to a cluster.

By definition, a cluster is “two or more confirmed cases within a 14-day period, with evidence of transmission occurring within the school,” according to the Island Health website.

Cedar elementary is the only mid-Island school featured on Island Health’s school exposure list, with three exposures in Victoria and a cluster in Comox.
