KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Expansion Kansas City NWSL has acquired Canadian international midfielder Jordyn Listro from the Orlando Pride in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2022 draft.

The draft pick could change to a second-round selection from 2022 or 2023 should certain conditions be met.

The 25-year-old from Toronto holds the record for appearances (82) at the University of South Florida. She played in Spain for UDG Tenerife of the Primera Division before signing with Orlando prior to the 2020 Fall Series.

“We were very impressed with her when we played Orlando earlier this pre-season,” Kansas City head coach Huw Williams said in a statement. “Jordyn plays with an aggressive mentality, and we think she is a young player on the rise.”

A former Canadian youth international, Listro won her first two senior caps at the SheBelieves Cup in February.

Listro joins fellow Canadians Diana Matheson, Victoria Pickett and Desiree Scott at Kansas City NWSL, which opens the 2021 Challenge Cup on April 9 at the Portland Thorns.

Orlando GM Ian Fleming called Listro “a consummate professional.”

“Jordyn’s short-term goals have evolved positively as a result of her recent international call-ups and we’re happy to come to a deal that not only provides her with an opportunity to meet those goals, but that gives the Pride a valuable asset for the future,” he added.
