Qualicum Beach trying to redevelop community identity and brand

Mar 28, 2021 | 6:46 AM

Qualicum Beach — The Town of Qualicum Beach is setting about trying to discover its identity.

The Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Town administration and the Qualicum Beach Downtown Business Commitee, is now developing a strategy to put Qualicum Beach on the map and develop the town as a tourist destination.

“Every community needs a brand,” Chamber executive director Kim Burden said in a filmed interview. “The spirit and character of Qualicum Beach is wrapped up in its unique identity. It’s a village with a bit of old world charm with modern conveniences and the diversity of available services. It’s all here.”

Burden said residents and tourists enjoy Qualicum Beach because it offers something for everyone.

“I think the greatest asset Qualicum Beach holds is its sense of community. The volunteerism that is in Qualicum Beach, the fact that everyone cares. The turnout to various events. When you asks somebody’s opinion of Qualicum Beach, they have one.

The community branding process is being led by the Taiji Brand Group.

Input can be added online through a project page developed for the redesign.
