NANAIMO β€” Operations are returning to normal for a local care home.

Island Health confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak declared at Wexford Creek long term care home in Chase River is over following no further evidence of transmission.

β€œOne staff member tested positive for COVID-19. No other cases in residents or staff were identified through extensive follow-up testing,” a release from the health authority read.

The one staff member who tested positive has since recovered.

Social visits resumed Saturday, Feb. 27, while admissions and transfers will also resume at the site.

Residents are also being allowed to dine together again after being isolated in their rooms during the outbreak to prevent spread of the virus.

Island Health initially declared the outbreak on Feb. 14, along with one at Eden Gardens which remains an outbreak site after a resident also tested positive.
