Island Health sees slight dip in new COVID-19 cases announced
NANAIMO — Tuesday brought slightly smaller numbers of new COVID-19 cases within Island Health.
The health authority confirmed 22 new cases on Tuesday, Feb. 9. This is down from the 29 new a day during the previous weekend reporting period, which equalled Island Health’s worst weekend period so far during the pandemic.
There’s currently 235 active cases in Island Health, with roughly two-thirds found in the central Island area.
Island Health has hovered around 230 active cases since late January. The highest number of active cases was reached during early December, 2020 with 267 at the height of COVID-19’s second wave.
