Canada’s Auger-Aliassime teams with Poland’s Hurkacz to win doubles crown in Paris
PARIS — Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime won his first career ATP Tour doubles title Sunday at the Paris Masters.
Auger-Aliassime and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz saved five match points in a 6-7 (3), 7-6 (7), 10-2 victory over the second-seeded duo of Brazil’s Bruno Soares and Croatia’s Mate Pavic.
“Honestly this is all unexpected,” Auger-Aliassime said in an on-court interview.
The unseeded pair defeated four seeded teams en route to the title. It was their second appearance as a team after a quarterfinal showing at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament last February.
