Number of active COVID cases drop within Island Health, no new Island cases confirmed

NANAIMO — Two more people within Island Health have recovered from COVID-19.

Data from the health authority released on Friday, Oct. 30 showed one less active case in both central and southern Vancouver Island. Three remain in each region and two in northern regions of Island Health.

No new cases within Island Health were confirmed on Friday.

There’s currently no one in an Island Health hospital with COVID-19.

The health region remains the least affected of B.C. health authorities during the pandemic, with 256 total cases of COVID-19 since March.

Across B.C., 272 new cases were reported on Friday, primarily in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Health region.

The number of active cases in B.C. is nearly 2,400 with slightly more than 6,000 people being actively monitored by public health after an identified exposure to a known case.

One new fatality was confirmed, the 263rd loss of life in B.C. due to COVID-19.
