Island Health COVID-19 cases hold steady, 58 province-wide
NANAIMO — The number of COVID-19 cases for the Island Health region has not increased.
The province confirmed 58 new cases on Tuesday, Sept. 1, including one epi-linked case to increase the total number of people infected throughout the pandemic to 5,848. Island Health’s total of 175 remained unchanged with the number of active cases dropping to seven.
However, the number of hospitalizations grew, according to a statement from the province. There are 31 people currently in hospital across B.C. with 10 of those patients in intensive care.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 1,124 cases of COVID-19 were considered active across B.C. Over 2,600 people are under active public health watch as a result of a confirmed exposure to the virus.
