Active cases of COVID-19 falls across B.C., Vancouver Island remains at zero

NANAIMO — The number of active COVID-19 cases in B.C. continues to dwindle despite small increases in newly confirmed cases.

A release from the province on Friday, June 19 confirmed seven new cases since Thursday.

No new deaths were announced.

The number of active cases dropped to 178 Friday from 190 the day before.

More than 2,440 people have recovered from the respiratory virus.

The last confirmed case of COVID-19 on Vancouver Island resolved in early June.

Island Health and Northern Health are the only B.C. health authorities with no active COVID-19 cases.

Interior Health also hit zero but one additional case was confirmed on Thursday.

COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 168 British Columbians since the outbreak took hold in the province in mid March.
