Nanaimo’s Salvation Army brings meal program outdoors
NANAIMO — Stomachs don’t have to go empty during the COVID-19 crisis.
Salvation Army Nanaimo recently put their emergency vehicle outfront the New Hope Centre in downtown Nanaimo to continue their meal program. Before, clients would enter the Centre and pick their meals up directly from the kitchen.
Bagged lunches are handed out from 12 to 1 p.m. and takeout dinner is served from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Fundraising coordinator Dawne Anderson told NanaimoNewsNOW it’s been an interesting transition as physical distancing becomes the norm.
