NANOOSE BAY — Oceanside RCMP are searching for a family and owners of a brown doberman dog following an alleged attack on a popular hiking trail.

Police said in a release the doberman attacked a hiker on Notch Hill overlooking Nanoose Bay on Saturday, April 4. The hiker was injured and was sent to hospital for care, while RCMP said the family fled the scene and showed no concern for the victim’s condition.

The owners of the dog were a male in his 40’s with long brown and grey hair, medium build and average height, along with a female in her 40’s. The pair had two small children with them at the time.

Oceanside RCMP are asking the public for information to help identify the family.
