BC Ferries cancel sailings between Nanaimo, Vancouver due to mechanical issues

NANAIMO — BC Ferries has been forced to cancel several sailings between Nanaimo and Vancouver on Thursday.

The company has cancelled sailings by the Queen of Oak Bay between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay, including 1:00 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. departures from Nanaimo.

Corresponding 10:40 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. sailings from Horseshoe Bay in Vancouver were also cancelled.

A release from BC Ferries said the ship is experiencing a main engine problem.
