NANAIMO — A man who pleaded guilty to a pair of child porn charges now awaits his sentence.

Dallas Clark Renney, 45, pleaded guilty Monday, Jan 27 to possessing and distributing child pornography in Nanaimo.

The offences occurred between Oct. 12, 2016 and Sept. 28, 2017.

Crown prosecutor Nick Barber told the court they intend to drop the third charge against Renney of making or publishing child porn.

A pre-sentence report, including a psychiatric evaluation, will now shed light on Renney’s offences and guide his rehabilitation efforts.

Details of the nature and amount of illegal videos and images Renney possessed and shared will be revealed when he’s sentenced at an undetermined later date.

His guilty plea was entered prior to his imminent trial.

It’s unclear how much jail time Renney could face.

Renney, who works in Nanaimo’s construction industry, has no prior criminal record in the province.

He’s not in custody.
