Pleasant Valley elementary student hit by car near school, suffers non-life threatening injuries

NANAIMO — A six-year-old Pleasant Valley Elementary School student was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Wednesday afternoon.

School District 68’s Dale Burgos confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW one student was hit by a passing vehicle at approximately 2:45 p.m. along Dunbar Rd. near the school.

Nanaimo RCMP said the girl was exiting her family car when she ran into traffic and was thrown to the ground by another vehicle.

Police indicate speed was not a factor and both drugs and alcohol have been ruled out.
