NANAIMO β€” Students at Dover Bay Secondary School were briefly evacuated due to a Thursday morning gas leak.

School District 68 reported a strong smell of gas was detected around 10:30 a.m. and students were immediately sent outside.

School District 68 announced about an hour later the school had re-opened, with the exception of upper E block, which will remain close for the remainder of the day.

The source of the gas leak had been detected and dealt with after a heavy emergency response to the school, including Fortis BC crews.
