Clippers end November with 4-3 OT win over Warriors

Dec 1, 2019 | 2:14 AM

WEST KELOWNA – The Clippers had to overcome a determined effort from the West Kelowna Warriors to earn a 4-3 overtime win.

Josh Bourne opened the scoring with a shot off the post and in to give Nanaimo a 1-0 lead.

But that was short lived as the Warriors got a pair of goals from John Evans and Max Bulawka to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Nanaimo had a strong second period and eventually tied the game on a Tim Washe power play goal.

Trevor LeDonne’s slapshot from the blueline gave the Clippers a 3-2 lead that would last well into the third.

A rebound marker on a power play by West Kelowna’s Tyler Cristall leveled the contest once again and forced a three on three overtime session.

With just over a minute left in the OT Ethan Scardina came down the left wing and sniped a shot behind Johnny Derrick to give the Clippers the victory.

Jordan Naylor earned his 14th win in net this season and has still only lost once in the 2019-20 campaign.

Nanaimo finished the month of November with a 10-1 record, and have upped their record to 21-7-1-1.

The Clippers will wrap up their three game road trip against the league leading Coquitlam Express on Dec. 1.

They’ll be without Ethan Scardina, Trevor LeDonne, and Kyler Kovich who will be in Calgary for the Team West selection camp for the World Junior A Challenge.
