One dead following single vehicle crash on Yellow Point Road

NANAIMO — A man in his thirties died in a single -vehicle rollover on Yellow Point Rd. in rural Ladysmith.

The North Oyster Volunteer Fire Dept (NOVFD) attended the scene shortly before 5 p.m Tuesday along with other emergency responders near the intersection of Hill Rd.

NOVFD chief Florian Schulz told NanaimoNewsNOW the male driver was pronounced dead, while the female passenger was extricated from the truck and flown to hospital with serious injuries.

Andy Watson of the BC Coroners Service said their office will look to determine how the crash happened.

“An important function of what we do with our investigations is if we can also make recommendations aimed at preventing death in similar circumstances,” Watson said.
