Clippers shutout Kings for second time in a week

Oct 5, 2019 | 10:17 PM

NANAIMO – The Clippers beating the Kings 3-0 is a case of deja vu.

That was the score in the final game in September and on Oct. 5 versus their island rivals.

In the latest matchup Ethan Scardina scored on a beautiful deke in the first period, Steven Agriogianis put home a loose puck on a power play in the second, and Scardina wired a shot high to the short side on a third period man advantage.

Jordan Naylor and the Clippers defense were strong all night with the Clippers netminder stopping all 26 shots he faced.

Nanaimo has won four games in a row and outscored their opposition 17-3 in that span.

Scardina has been the lynch pin with six goals and three assists in his last three outings.

Naylor has been another key component with two shutouts and and a total of two goals against in his last three starts.

The Clippers have allowed just 17 goals against in their 10 games this season which leaves them tied with Penticton for the fewest goals given up in the league.

Nanaimo sits at 6-3-0-1 as they get ready for back to back Interior road trips.

The Clippers will play in Prince George, Merritt, and Langley Oct. 11-13, and Trail, Penticton, and Salmon Arm Oct. 18-20.
