CHILLIWACK – The Clippers have built up a three game winning streak after beating Victoria 5-1 at the BCHL Showcase.

Four second period goals broke the game open for Nanaimo after a scoreless first period.

Trevor LeDonne and Tim Washe gave the Clippers a 2-0 lead, with Washe getting his first BCHL goal on a power play.

The only blemish on goalie Zach Bennett’s day was an individual effort goal from the Grizzlies Reid Lindsay that cut the lead to 2-1.

Ethan Scardina put the game away when he tallied twice in nine seconds in the dying moments of the second period.

Kyler Kovich tipped home a goal on a man advantage in the final frame to give Nanaimo the 5-1 decision.

Scardina finished with two goals and an assist, and was named the First Star for the second game in a row.

He had seven points in his two appearances at the Showcase.

The line of Scardina, Kovich, and Josh Bourne combined for 14 points in the games against Surrey and Victoria.

Nanaimo is home to Powell River on Oct. 5 with an important two points up for grabs in the chase for first place in Island Division.

The Clippers beat the Kings 3-0 back on Sept. 29.
