Downtown Nanaimo altercation leaves one man in hospital with serious injuries

NANAIMO — A melee outside a downtown Nanaimo pub escalated to the point of a man being stabbed and taken to the hospital.

Nanaimo RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said the altercation broke out shortly after midnight in the early morning of Saturday, July 27 on Skinner St., in the vicinity of the Old City Pub and Level Two Nightclub.

The 35-year-old victim was stabbed in the incident in the street. O’Brien said he was quickly taken to hospital, where he remains with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Video surveillance and witness statements let to several people being identified and taken into police custody.
