NANAIMO — Charges have been laid more than a year after a fatal car crash which claimed the life of one man.

Travis Eric Fox is charged with three driving offences, including impaired driving causing death for allegedly losing control of a 2008 BMW on Boxwood Rd. on March 22, 2018.

The devastating wreck claimed the life of a 38-year-old male passenger. The father of two was pronounced dead on scene, while police said the driver was able to extricate himself from the car.

RCMP at the time said the car hit the curb at high speed, flipped and hit two parked cars on Boxwood near Tulsa Rd.

The BMW landed with such force it managed to move a nearby storage container several feet.

The owner of one of the parked vehicles told NanaimoNewsNOW it was unrecognizable and flattened like a pancake.

Fox is slated to make his first court appearance in Nanaimo on June 18.
