Prolific offender from Nanaimo charged with first degree murder in Brentwood Bay homicide

NANAIMO — A local man is charged with first degree murder after a violent incident inside a Brentwood Bay home.

Central Saanich Police said 48-year-old Alan Charles Chapman of Nanaimo was arrested after officers attended the home just after midnight on Saturday, May 11.

One person was found dead inside and two others were seriously injured.

Police on Monday said there were signs of a violent struggle.

Chapman was remanded into custody and makes his next court appearance on Wednesday, May 15 in Victoria.

Chapman’s court record is lengthy.

The court registry shows numerous offences for Alan Charles Chapman, starting in 2002 with a speeding ticket.

His record includes possession of stolen property, assaulting a peace officer and numerous speeding tickets.
