Jun 5, 2018 | 10:35 AM

PARKSVILLE — A Nanaimo man has died in a workplace accident in Parksville.

A release from the City of Parksville confirmed the subcontracted truck driver passed away on Monday, June 4 at the operations yard on Herring Gull Way.

He was delivering steel beams for the Englishman River Water Service construction project.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed the deceased man was from Nanaimo and in his early 40s.

No name has been released.

WorkSafeBC is investigating after Oceanside RCMP analyzed the scene.

The truck driver was the only employee involved and City officials in Parksville said there’s no other risk to workers.

The last tragic workplace accident in Oceanside happened in February 2017 when a 31-year-old Nanoose Bay man died while working on a ladder at the Parksville Manor on Moilliet St. WorkSafe has not released any findings from their investigation into that incident.
