Prolific Nanaimo bank robber facing significant jail sentence

NANAIMO — A lengthy jail sentence awaits a man who robbed three Nanaimo banks, including two in one week.

Daniel William Harlow, 47, pleaded guilty Monday in provincial court in Nanaimo to three robbery charges in Nanaimo and a fourth in Surrey. Harlow also pleaded guilty to a probation breach.

Harlow is slated to be sentenced in a Nanaimo courtroom some time in April for the offences which all occurred last year.

A joint submission between the Crown and defence involves Harlow spending several years in jail.

Harlow’s punishment will ultimately be decided by a judge.

Harlow robbed the north Nanaimo CIBC location last Oct. 29 and the TD Canada Trust on Dufferin Cres. on Nov 1.

He committed the same crime at the TD Canada Trust location at Terminal Park in Feburary of last year.

Weapons were not produced in the Nanaimo robberies and nobody was injured, according to police.

Harlow remains in custody.
