Jan 9, 2018 | 3:04 PM

NANAIMO — A man has been sentenced to 18-months probation for running over a teenage girl with a car in Qualicum Beach.

Caleb Michael Postey, 22, of Qualicum Beach plead guilty to an assault with a weapon charge and was sentenced late last year in Provincial Court in Nanaimo.

Oceanside RCMP reported a 16-year-old girl was run over by a vehicle in a purposeful act outside a Qualicum Beach home on Feb. 15, 2017.

RCMP responded to find the girl conscious but in distress under the car.

She was taken to hospital in stable condition and police later confirmed she sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police reported at the time the driver of the car was known to the victim.

Two charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm originally laid against Postey were dropped.

Postey’s probation restricts access to the victim and also includes a weapons ban and order to access counselling.
