Darren Naylor replaces Mike Vandekamp as Head Coach and GM of the Clippers

Dec 22, 2017 | 5:50 AM

NANAIMO — In a suprise move late Thursday Clippers owner Wes Mussio announced that Mike Vandekamp would be replaced as Head Coach and General Manager by Darren Naylor.

Naylor was named the Clippers Director of Hockey Operations when Mussio purchased the club back in November.

Mussio cited ‘irreconcilable differences with the management team’ in a post on social media as the reason for the change.

The Clippers are almost a week into their Christmas Break and sitting one point out of first in the Island Division.

Vandekamp had been at the helm since the 2011-12 season and compiled a record of 201-148-5-30.

Meanwhile Naylor has guided the Delta Icehawks to a 26-2-0-1 record this season in the PJHL as their Head Coach and GM.

He will leave that post to join the Clippers as they prepare for their next game – a first place show down on December 29 in Powell River.
