‘Sudden death’ cancels early morning Nanaimo ferries

NANAIMO — Round trip ferry service from Nanaimo to Vancouver was cancelled after a fatality at the Departure Bay terminal.

Nanaimo RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien confirmed a dead man was found by ferry staff after they landed at the terminal on Monday morning. 

Ferry travel was disrupted for several hours. 

The 8:30 a.m. sailing from Departure Bay back to Horseshoe Bay was cancelled, as well as the 10:30 a.m. return trip.
