Germany’s Lufthansa cancels 912 flights in pilot strike
BERLIN — German airline Lufthansa says it has cancelled 912 flights on Thursday as pilots strike for a second day in a long-running dispute over wages.
Lufthansa said Thursday that since the strikes were announced in advance, it had managed to notify most passengers so few showed up at airports.
The Cockpit union says pilots of short-haul and medium-haul flights within Germany and Europe will also strike on Friday. Lufthansa says all long-haul flights will be able to operate as scheduled Friday.
Over two days, Lufthansa says it has cancelled a total of 1,800 flights, affecting 215,000 passengers.
