PORT ALBERNI — Police say a two-month-old girl from Port Alberni has died and her father is now charged with manslaughter.

Mounties say the baby girl was taken to West Coast General Hospital in medical distress on Oct. 28. She was transferred to BC Children’s Hospital and her father, Warren Alfred Baader, 20, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

An RCMP release states the girl passed away in Children’s Hospital on Nov. 3. Baader’s charge has been upgraded to manslaughter, according to the release.

No other details are being released and police say the investigation is on-going. Baader is due in court on Nov. 30.
