Oceanside Mounties arrest man accused in strange roadside attack

QUALICUM BEACH — Oceanside RCMP have arrested a man they believe is responsible for a bizarre roadside stabbing.

Police say the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday following last Wednesday morning’s incident on the Inland Island Highway.

A man told police he had pulled over to help a man who had crashed his car on the side of the highway, just north of the Qualicum Beach exit. According to RCMP, a short time after stopping, the driver in the crash stabbed the Good Samaritan and stole his truck. The truck was found by police on Thursday morning.

The suspect appears in Provincial Court in Nanaimo Thursday to face charges.
